Wiggins Nearing Decision On Whether To Jump To Class Of 2013

Jul 30, 2012 10:42 PM

Andrew Wiggins will make a decision sometime soon on whether to jump to the class of 2013.

“He does understand that when he makes the jump into the college world, everything changes. Life changes,” Wiggins’ AAU coach Mike George said. “It’s not just a basketball decision. It’s a life decision. You have to do what makes the most sense for your life.”

Wiggins will consult with his family and coaches over the next few weeks before making a decision.

Amid talk of reclassification, John Calipari traveled to Brampton, Ontario on Saturday to catch the 6-foot-7 small forward at the Caribana Classic Basketball camp.

“It’s who’s recruiting him hardest. That’s what counts. That’s what he wants to see,” George said. “If he’s playing, you better have a coach there front and center. And it better be the head coach. And if it’s not – you have a problem.”

Jabari Parker Lists 10 Schools, Targets November Decision

Jul 12, 2012 10:27 AM

Jabari Parker has released a list of ten colleges he is considering with a year to go before he graduates from high school.

The list, in no particular order, includes Kentucky, Stanford, Michigan State, Kansas, Florida, Duke, BYU, Georgetown, DePaul and North Carolina.

''I want to make my decision in November if that's possible,'' Parker said. ''I just need to cut it down so I'll be able to go on visits and make my decision from there.''

Parker said geography would play a role in his eventual choice.

''I don't want my family waking up at 12 o'clock in the morning just to watch my games,'' he said, ''but then again I have to do what's best for me. I have to go with which program fits me the best and what system and style of play is going to allow me to expand my game out in the pros.''

Julius Randle, a 6-foot-11 power forward who is one of top five prospects in the class of 2013, plans to soon visit Kentucky and Ohio State.

“I want to narrow it down soon and I haven’t been to Kentucky since I was a freshman and I haven’t been to Ohio State at all,” Randle said Saturday during the LeBron James Skills Academy.

Randle “wants to take a closer look” at the defending national champions.

“Coach (John) Cal(ipari) is a players coach,” Randle said. “He raises the level of play of his players and gets them to the next level.”
